Welcome to Honouring Mama!
Birth Debriefing & Aware Parenting Support
- Honouring and Supporting your ongoing transition into Motherhood
Kia ora! Hello!
I'm Kirsty.
I'm a Māmā, certified in Birth Debriefing and an Aware Parenting coach, unschooling and living in the South Island with my husband and two children. I discovered my passion for all things birth, postpartum and early parenting through my own transformative journey into motherhood. When my pregnancy, postpartum and early parenting didn't unfold as I had expected, I realised how often we overlook the birth of Māmā themselves. Today, I walk alongside parents who are processing their birth stories or seeking deeper connections with their tamariki (children), offering the support and understanding I once yearned for in my own early parenting days. I am so glad you're here! You can learn more about me here, or take a look around and let me know if you feel called to be supported by me with Birth Debriefing or your Aware Parenting journey.
Do you want to feel honoured, held and heard in your birth experience?
Our fertility, pregnancy, and birth journeys are some of the most profound events in our lives. They require us to be open, vulnerable, and raw. These experiences shape us, and we carry their stories with us, no matter how long ago they were or how our babies came earthside.
Birth Debriefing: Honouring Your Journey
For over 5 years, I've had the honour of sitting with Māmā, partners and birthing support people, listening to their birth stories (including fertility, pregnancy, labour, postpartum and early parenting), and holding space for their experiences to unfold.
Birth debriefing is for everyone who has experienced or witnessed birth - whether the journey was simple and gentle or challenging and intense.
In our sessions, I create a safe space where you can feel supported and heard. I offer insight, information, and validation of your personal journey, helping you process and honour your unique experience.
Who Can Benefit?
-
Birthing parents
-
Partners and support people
-
Family members who witnessed the birth
-
Anyone carrying emotions or memories from a birth experience
It doesn't matter when the birth happened or how it unfolded. Every story deserves to be heard and honoured.
Ready to Be Heard?
If you, your partner or your birthing support people, feel called to share your story, to honour lingering emotions, experience healing, or deeply acknowledge this transformative time, I'm here, ready to listen.
Do you want to create more connection and cooperation in your family with Aware Parenting?
I've been on this wild ride of Aware Parenting for over 7 years with my own beautiful kiddos. For the last 5 years, I've had the privilege of sharing this transformative approach with other families across Australia and Aotearoa as one of only two Aware Parenting Instructors in New Zealand.
So, what's Aware Parenting all about?
It's about navigating the wonder-filled (and sometimes overwhelming!) journey of parenting with heart and wisdom.
It's about:
-
Juggling everyone's needs (yep, even yours!)
-
Building that deep, secure connection with your child/ren and yourself
-
Helping your little ones sleep peacefully (without sleep training)
-
Supporting your kids to heal from stress and let those big emotions out in healthy ways
-
Gaining willingness and cooperation without the use of rewards and punishments (democratic or non-punitive discipline, which doesn't mean no boundaries)
-
Having the tools to navigate big changes like new siblings, house moves, or changes in family dynamics
-
Mediating sibling squabbles and growing interpersonal skills
Sounds good, right?
If you're keen to dive deeper into these Aware Parenting approaches, I'd love to chat! I offer both online and in-person support for individuals, whānau/families, and even organisations.
This parenting journey is huge, and you don't have to go it alone. Let's connect and create some more ease and lightness in your family.
"So much can be said for Kirsty and her amazing work. From the warm and calming presence she brings into your bubble to the personal touches she adds to whatever service she is giving; she is, in two words, soul repairing. I'm a very reserved and private person so I was very nervous before she turned up for my "Honouring Mamas" ceremony, however that flew out the door as I opened it to greet her into my home. She has a warm presence about her that allowed me to let my walls down and open up about my birthing story. Through her and her work I gained healing and strength. I was in emotional distress when she arrived (from my birth) to completely free and the weight lifted when she left. I encourage any Māmā to reach out to Kirsty, if not for healing then just for pampering because once she's finished with you you'll feel like a Queen! My partner also sat through the ceremony with me and shared his experience with her and he too gained so much from having her in our home. We thankyou from the bottom of our hearts Kirsty." - Kura, wonderful first time Māmā
